Testimonials

Hi Diane,

We are so happy with Rosie (formerly Brandy) our new Papillon puppy. We were a little hesitant to pick a puppy online but after talking with Diane we were more comfortable. Since she was a Chrismas present it was so nice of you to send an updated picture before the holiday so we could show her to her new mom. She was thrilled Santa was getting her a baby of her own. We came to visit her at 5 weeks of age. We were impressed with the kennel, it was clean and all the dogs looked great. We got to meet her mom and dad. If we could of we would have taken her brothers and sister too (lol). Everyone we met was very nice. We even got to watch a puppy being born. At 7 weeks we came back to get her. She had a bath and the paper work went quick. We took Rosie to our vet and she was given a clean bill of health. He was impressed at how healthy and happy she was. She is now almost 11 weeks old and weighs 3 pounds(hopefully you can open the attachment). She is happy and healthy and very spoiled. We have two older papillons and Rosie just follows them around. We think she is the smartest puppy we ever had. We would highly recommend The Happy Woofer to any one looking to add to thier family . Over all it was a great experience.

Thanks so much,

Peggy McAlister and family

Origins

The Malshi breeding that was first recognized, was in 1990 and they are very popular in Australia. Most breedings of the Malshi are the First generation breeding between the Maltese and the Shih Tzu.

Height

10 inches

Weight

10 - 12 pounds

Color

The Malshi can come in almost any color since the Shih Tzus come in many colors but since the Maltese is always white; our Malshi's usually have a lot of white in them.

Coat

The coat of the Malshi should be long, and soft and silky in texture. It should have some wave to it, but it should never be curly.

Character

The Malshi is an adaptable, intelligent dog. They should be active and outgoing, if not downright boisterous, but occasionally you find the laid-back and quiet personality.

Temperament

For a Malshi, the most important aspect of life is family: nothing else matters as much as being with you. If he has that, everything else is negotiable. When good breeding stock is used, they have a nice, well-rounded temperament.

Care

Because the Malshi has long, silky hair, it is important to comb the hair every day to keep it from tangling or to keep the hair cut to a manageable length. A visit to the groomer every 6 weeks would probably be a good idea.

Training

Training is as important for the Malshi as it is for all dogs, and he can be trained with little difficulty since he's bright and eager to learn. The Malshi makes an excellent dog for first-time owners. Socialization is important, especially since the Malshi is a social dog and loves to receive visitors or go visiting himself. They are intelligent and happy, making them a breeze and a pleasure to train. They do well as a therapy dog, and the wonderfully social nature makes them a great family pet. They are generally good with children of all ages and with other dogs and pets.

Activity

They should have daily exercise, but this can be as simple as a leisurely walk through the neighborhood or a fun game of fetch down a hallway or in the yard. About 10 to 15 minutes of exercise per day should suffice.

Description

The Mal-Shi, Malti zu, and the Malt-Tzu, is a hybrid dog resulting from crossing the Shih Tzu and the Maltese One of the few "designer dogs" not originating with a Poodle, the adaptable Malshi is an adorable, sweet little guy that is great for the allergy sufferer and loves their family more than anything else.
