Hi Diane,
We are so happy with Rosie (formerly Brandy) our new Papillon puppy. We were a little hesitant to pick a puppy online but after talking with Diane we were more comfortable. Since she was a Chrismas present it was so nice of you to send an updated picture before the holiday so we could show her to her new mom. She was thrilled Santa was getting her a baby of her own. We came to visit her at 5 weeks of age. We were impressed with the kennel, it was clean and all the dogs looked great. We got to meet her mom and dad. If we could of we would have taken her brothers and sister too (lol). Everyone we met was very nice. We even got to watch a puppy being born. At 7 weeks we came back to get her. She had a bath and the paper work went quick. We took Rosie to our vet and she was given a clean bill of health. He was impressed at how healthy and happy she was. She is now almost 11 weeks old and weighs 3 pounds(hopefully you can open the attachment).She is happy and healthy and very spoiled. We have two older papillons and Rosie just follows them around. We think she is the smartest puppy we ever had. We would highly recommend The Happy Woofer to any one looking to add to thier family . Over all it was a great experience.

Origins |
It is thought that the Great Pyrenees originated in
Central Asia or Siberia and appeared in Europe between 1800 and 1000
BC where remains were found in the fossil deposits of the Bronze
Age. The Great Pyrenees was named for the Pyrenees Mountains in
southwestern Europe where they guarded flocks on the steep slopes
with their peasant shepherds. The Pyrenean Mountain Dog developed
the inherent traits that are known and loved today. Among those
traits are keen senses, devotion, intelligence, independence and
guardianship. The Great Pyrenees was also cherished by the nobility
and appointed French court dog in the 17th century. The Great Pyrenees was recognized by the American Kennel Club in February of 1933 in the Working Group. History credits the first pair to be brought to the United States by General Lafayette for his friend J. S. Skinner in 1824. |

Coat |
The dog has a weather-resistant double coat. The undercoat is dense, fine and wooly, and the outer coat is long, thick, coarse and flat. There is a mane around the shoulders and neck which is more apparent in male dogs. There is feathering on the tail and along the back of the legs. |

Character |
The Great Pyrenees has a noble appearance, but they love to work despite weather or terrain. They are affectionate, quiet and tolerant with their family but ready to guard or protect their territory if the need arises. Because they were bred to work independently and make decisions on their own, they may not be the star of the local obedience class. New owners should be prepared for barking, especially at night. They are a capable and imposing guardian, devoted to its family. They can be somewhat wary of strangers- human or canine. When not provoked, they are calm, well-mannered and somewhat serious. They are courageous and loyal. |
Temperament |
Gentle and affectionate with those he loves. Devoted to family even if self-sacrifice is required. It is very gentle with its family and children. |
Care |
Regular brushing of the long double coat will keep it in good condition, but extra care is needed when the dog is shedding its dense undercoat. The outer coat does not mat unless there is a burr, foxtail or some other outside object that gets stuck to the coat. Bathe or dry shampoo only when necessary. Great Pys shed all year round but does so heavily once a year. |
Activity |
Pyrenees need plenty of exercise to stay in shape. If they are not actively working as a flock guardian, they need to be taken on a daily, long brisk walk. |
Description |
The Great Pyrenees is also known as the Pyrenean Mountain Dog. The length of the dog is slightly longer than it is tall. The head is wedge-shaped with a slightly rounded crown and is in proportion to the rest of the body. The backline is level. The muzzle is about the same length as the back skull. The skull is as wide as it is tall with flat cheeks. There is no apparent stop. The nose and lips are black. The teeth meet in a scissors or level bite. The dark brown, medium sized eyes are almond shaped and slanted. The dark brown, V-shaped ears are carried low, flat and close to the head, rounded at the tips, set about eye level. The chest is fairly broad. The well feathered tail reaches the hocks and can be carried low, or up over the back in a wheel when the dog is excited. There is sometimes a crook at the end of the tail. The Great Pyrenees has single dewclaws on the front legs and double dewclaws on the hind legs. The dog has a weather-resistant double coat.
