Testimonials

Hi Diane,

We are so happy with Rosie (formerly Brandy) our new Papillon puppy. We were a little hesitant to pick a puppy online but after talking with Diane we were more comfortable. Since she was a Chrismas present it was so nice of you to send an updated picture before the holiday so we could show her to her new mom. She was thrilled Santa was getting her a baby of her own. We came to visit her at 5 weeks of age. We were impressed with the kennel, it was clean and all the dogs looked great. We got to meet her mom and dad. If we could of we would have taken her brothers and sister too (lol). Everyone we met was very nice. We even got to watch a puppy being born. At 7 weeks we came back to get her. She had a bath and the paper work went quick. We took Rosie to our vet and she was given a clean bill of health. He was impressed at how healthy and happy she was. She is now almost 11 weeks old and weighs 3 pounds(hopefully you can open the attachment). She is happy and healthy and very spoiled. We have two older papillons and Rosie just follows them around. We think she is the smartest puppy we ever had. We would highly recommend The Happy Woofer to any one looking to add to thier family . Over all it was a great experience.

Thanks so much,

Peggy McAlister and family

Toy

Origins

The Peekapom, also called the Pominese, is created by the crossing of two breeds: Pekingese and Pomeranian. They are commonly referred to as "designer dogs" and are not as popular as many of the other crosses.

Height

6-12 inches

Weight

3 to 10 pounds

Color

Variety of colors that include fawn, black, white, cream; may be solid or sabled

Coat

The Peekapom has a double coat. The outer coat is long and profuse. The under coat is short and dense.

Character

The ideal Peekapom should be well-proportioned, cobby, and sturdy. They should possess an intelligent and lively expression and be hardy in appearance.

Temperament

Affectionate, brave, and loyal, the Peekapom is outgoing and confident. They do not do well if left alone for extended periods of time. Boredom and loneliness will lead to destructive behavior and incessant barking. They do best in homes with older, considerate, well-mannered children. The Peekapom does well with dogs and non-canine pets they have been raised with. They are wary and suspicious of strangers and are quick to alert their family to visitors or out of the ordinary sounds.

Care

Daily brushing is recommended to prevent matting and tangling for the Peekapom. Bathing should be done when necessary; dry shampooing will suffice. Dental hygiene is important to prevent early tooth loss. They may be prone to such health issues as eye problems, luxating patella, hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and hypoglycemia.

Activity

The Peekapom is suited for apartment living. They are relatively active indoors. Peekapom's enjoy family play sessions, securely leashed walks, and off-lead play time in a fenced yard.

Training

Early socialization and obedience are recommended. The Peekapom may be willful, stubborn, and difficult to housebreak. They will not respond to harsh or heavy-handed methods. Training must be done with firmness, fairness, patience, and consistency.
